...using two record-players

45 rpm performance
review

regarded as possibly one of the loudest albums ever created, one can only assume that, at best, its the gerogerigegege's "tribute" to either john cage or christian marclay. with an album cover that appears to either be straight out of a scene from terminator 2 or from hitoshi iwaaki's parasyte manga, juntaro sure didn't waste any time being as completely vague as only he can be about the rather cryptic art direction. the 1st track is the "B side of it" and the 2nd track is the "A side of it." the 1st track simply sounds like tectonic plates crushing masami akita to death. the 2nd track is more "musical" although by that i simply mean that you can somewhat distinguish when the needle is actually on part of the vinyl. the snap, crackle, and pop of a record can be heard much better and at times one can hear the sounds of explosions and metal on metal action flooded in an ocean of reverb. the overwhelming sensation of being at the foot of a skyscraper during a 5.0 earthquake also comes to mind throughout. as far as recordings concerned with documenting the degradation and abuse of vinyl records are concerned, this is the audio equivalent of dropping the needle onto sandpaper and scratching along to your favorite rap song.

put out by dark vinyl 1992.
